Mark Holland is co-founder and principal of Holland Barrs. Mark is a LEED® accredited planner and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, who holds professional degrees in both Landscape Architecture and Community & Regional Planning. Recent projects include: site planning, community energy planning, water and waste management strategy development, transit planning, land administration systems, organizational development, CPTED and public participation. His current work focuses largely on integrating sustainability objectives into urban development projects as a sustainability consultant for development and design teams. He also frequently advises municipalities on sustainability issues, and recently completed a term as the City of Vancouver’s first Manager of Sustainability. Prior to private practice, he served as a city planner with the City of Vancouver, both as a rezoning planner and as the sustainable development planner and project co-ordinator for the Southeast False Creek model sustainable urban development project. He serves on the Board of Directors of both the Community Energy Association and the EcoDesign Resource Society. He has taught at both SFU and UBC, has lectured on a wide range of issues and has been a guest speaker at regional and national conferences, and workshops including UBCM, FCM, UDI, BC Hydro, USGBC and CMHC.
